I like this image for a number of reasons. Firstly, it's a ruin. Something I didn't realise until it came to post processing. I also like how the church is prominently set in the landscape framed in a halo of grass. As a photographer you are always looking to frame your subject and this I felt was perfect, it is almost like an island. Finally, the crows in the foreground add atmosphere and a soupçon of foreboding, essential to an ancient ruin such as this.
Oh and in case you are not familiar, Colston Bassett is home to the best Stilton cheese of the same name. Smooth and creamy yet ever so stiltony this is the most rounded Stilton you will ever find. Complemented by a good port and the plainest of crackers, tis nothing better! Well worth a visit to their dairy shop.
